The Strickland Foundation
The Strickland Foundation was set up by public deed on August 11 1979. Its objectives are: i. To foster the national interest of Malta and in particular to promote in Malta democratic principles, the observance of human rights and the exercise of a free press. ii. To uphold the European character of Malta and support Malta’s continued presence in the Commonwealth. iii. To finance scholarships and other activities for the attainment or furtherance of any of the objectives mentioned above. iv. To assist in such manner as may be advisable and within the means of available persons who are or were employees of Allied Newspaper Ltd. and members of their families. v. To help improve the standard of Maltese journalism and the preservation of its freedom and independence.
The administration, direction and management of the Strickland Foundation are entrusted to a Council of Administration, which is at present composed of: H.E.
